We currently have an opening for a Buyer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision, oversees and performs a variety of tasks relating to the purchasing function. This is a fully qualified position that requires advanced knowledge of complex purchasing principles, and may involve work leadership and training of others. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

- Oversee and obtain the acquisition of materials, components, equipment, and services from a variety of sources for the operation of the organization.
- Check requisitions, obtain quotations, examine bids, and make awards to procure needed items and services.
- Ensure that current supply sources and vendor relationships are maintained and oversee the development of new sources/vendors when the current ones fail to meet our quality standards.
- Ensure that all purchasing activities are coordinated with engineering, manufacturing, and planning functions to satisfy schedules and maintain inventory at planned levels.
- Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to ensure best quality at best value.
- Help develop policies and procedures for the operations of procurement activities.
- Oversee and participate in the training of people newly assigned to the department.
- Participate in evaluating vendor reliability, when required.
- Complete scheduled training to support the purchasing function.
- Exercise professional judgment to resolve complex purchasing problems.
- Advocate and comply with all company quality assurance requirements.
- Perform other related duties that are assigned.
- Represent Purchasing organization during new product development phase.

REQUIREMENTS

- BA/BS degree in business administration, engineering, or equivalent experience;
- Five or more years of related purchasing experience or demonstrated job knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent negotiator.
- Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office software suites.
- Knowledge of Manman or other manufacturing based software system desired.

PREFERRED


- Aerospace experience in the procurement of electronic components and assemblies.
- Certification in Certified Purchasing Manager and/or Certified Production and Inventory Control Manager.
- MA/MS/MBA.
- Knowledge in DAR/FAR.
