We currently have an opening for a Buyer/Planner.
Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of intermediate-level tasks relating to the purchasing and material planning functions. This is a fully qualified position requiring work on problems of moderate scope where the analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Purchase materials, components, equipment, and services from a variety of sources for the operation of the organization
- Maintain current supply sources and vendor relationships
- Coordinate purchasing activities with the engineering, manufacturing, and production functions to maintain inventory at planned levels
- Monitor the schedule and scope of assigned commodities to ensure best quality at best value
- Effectively communicate schedule and forecast to suppliers
- Follow-up on schedule activity with suppliers and Buyers
- Assist Buyers in follow-up of engineering changes with Suppliers
- Participate in evaluating vendor reliability, when required
- Plan material availability in synchronization with the final assembly build schedule
- Plan and monitor the flow of material from the receipt of demand through the manufacturing process
- Review order promising activities to ensure level capacity demand
- Provide order administration with status and delivery information
- Identify and remove obstacles that will hinder schedule performance
- Reschedule the shop floor as required to meet lead time requirements
- Implement planning/database requirements for new parts
- Insures the integrity of the MRP database
- Maintains recommended inventory levels for assigned parts and manages the planning information to realize objectives at the least cost
- Implements supply and demand changes, and incorporates engineering changes in a timely fashion
- Makes recommendations to improve product velocity, lower aggregate inventory levels, and/or reduce overall costs
- Provide excellent customer service, internal and external
- Complete scheduled training to support the purchasing and planning functions.
- Comply with all company quality assurance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Perform other related duties that are assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS degree in business administration, purchasing/material management, or 4 year planning or buying experience.
- CPIM, CAPP or CPM is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and be able to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office software suites.
- Knowledge of Manman or other manufacturing based software system desired.
