KDM-340

KDM-340 2.4x2.4-inch, KDM-640 4x5-inch, KDM-1040 6x8-inch and KDM-1540 13x8-inch AMLCD modules with long-life, high-reliability LED backlights

KDM-1040

Korry’s new-generation KDM display modules features backlighting from an array of LEDs, instead of the fluorescent light source of traditional units. Units will be available for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2008. LED lighting offers significant advantages:

Very high reliability from long-life, solid-state LEDs
No risk of backlight hard failure: LED array provides light-source redundancy
Reduced weight
Compact packaging, the smallest of any 4x5-inch and 6x8-inch display modules on the market
Cooler operating temperature
Lower power consumption
No high voltage in drive circuitry, eliminating the risk of shock
Virtually instant warm-up
Full night-vision compliance (NVIS Class B)
Vivid primary colors
Very wide viewing angle

Advantages of AMLCD displays for aerospace

Korry AMLCD displays provide significant advantages over CRTs in glass cockpit integration and other aerospace applications that require real-time situation awareness in a limited space:

Reduced weight, volume, and cabling
Larger usable display surface for a given envelope
Lower power requirements
Increased reliability and improved fault tolerance
Improved uniformity in brightness and resolution across the display
Improved dimmability
Reduced color desaturation and washout
Improved night-vision compatibility (NVIS and NVG)

Korry AMLCD displays also have optical advantages over the multiplexed LCD displays commonly used in commercial applications. Multiplexing causes the pixel activation current to bleed into surrounding pixels, degrading image speed, contrast, and brightness. In AMLCDs, however, each pixel is activated by its own thin-film transistor without affecting adjacent pixels.

Drawing on decades of experience in optics and operator interface design, Korry has enhanced the inherent advantages of AMLCD technology by optimizing the backlighting and filtering of its displays to meet commercial requirements for sunlight readability as well as military requirements for both sunlight readability and night-vision compatibility.

Korry AMLCD products are the solution of choice for integrated cockpit instruments, multifunction display systems, air traffic control displays, and military flat-panel displays.
